The way I work
I work in an integrative way and incorporate the Person-Centred approach, along with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and the Psychodynamic approach. I aim to develop a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship, where we can explore how things are for you. We move at your pace, working through what you choose to discuss at each session. This way of working can be enlightening and hugely powerful.
I have a keen interest in working with parents. There is a fair amount of literature and workshops aimed at supporting and understanding children, however being a parent can be tough, and I feel that parents do not always get offered the non-judgemental support that they might need.
However I am not restricted to working with parents only, and welcome enquiries from those who face different challenges. I have volunteered at a mental health charity, and have experience of working with clients who face a wide variety of difficulties, including:
I also have experience of helping individuals who have an acquired brain injury, and assisting in their cognitive rehabilitation.
Unfortunately I am unable to work with people where adoption is part of the issue. For counsellors who have received the specialist training to work with adoption, please either contact Barnardo's, or you can search specifically for counsellors who work with adoption on Counselling Directory.
